Tractor
john deere 140
I'm new to the forum but have been tinkering with garden tractors for a few years now. The current project is a John Deere H3 with a jacobsen loader. Does anyone think the three spool hydraulic system of the tractor can operate the loader rather than the valves that came with the loader? I don't even know what to call that style of valve/controls but it would make for a much cleaner look without the pump on the front and the pedesta l mounted control valves on the loader.
Thanks in advance for your help
Mike,

Possibly. Is your tractor an open center hyd system?

A hyd valve is a means to route the hyd fluid to the unit which is using the fluid to develop force. If the valves can take the pressure developed by the cyl or motor,
the the valves can possibly work. To control a DA cyl, you need the valve to add fluid to the base end to extend, and add fluid to the rod end to push the cyl back.

If you know exactly what your current system is supposed to do, and the routing of the fluid, then match up IN flow and OUT flow, and then connect the loader hoses to the current valves.

I believe I would use the valves that came with the loader, and provide that valve with flow from the pump and a way to get the fluid back to tank.

Does it have a 3pt hyd system?

You need to know the GPM's and pressure rating on the hyd pump.

Will your tractor match up with the loader, as to size?

A 3000 psi hyd gage will be very useful.

Well, I'm not sure what an open center hydraulic system is. I left the tractor model out in my first post, its a 140 with 3 hydraulic valves. The tractor drive is hydraulic and the three hydraulic controlls control one center lift and two sets of quick connect type couplers at the front of the tractor. I want to use those two to control the bucket lift and tip.
So the pump would be the normal one that controls the hydro drive of the tractor and It's driven by the 14 HP engine. Typically, these two sets of hydraulic couplers an their valves would control a snow blade lift and angle or maybe a snow blower lift and hydro drive for the auger.
