Hydraulic Oil Change on 4310

I'm about to do, for the first time, a hydraulic oil change on my 4310. Is there anything special I need to do to drain the oil from the lines? I have a front loader and was wondering if there's a need to drain the lines. Also, the manual says to remove the suction screen and clean it. I assume this is necessary? Any other special tips for doing this?

Just follow the book. You don't need to drain all the lines, unless there has been gross contamination. Even then you flush, not drain.

Yes, the suction screen has to be pulled, pay attention to what is trapped on it.

I found a large drain pan was useful, just make certain it will hold the capacity of your sump. Once you start there is no going back, and finding out that you can only hold 1/2 the fluid is a messy proposition.

I found a large drain pan was useful,

I bought one of those under bed storage containers made by Rubbermaid or Sterilite for this purpose. I couldn't come up with anything else that would hold multiple gallons yet be short enough to fit under the tractor.

Wow, that is one large capacitty drain pan.

Having worked on trucks that hold 40+ quarts of oil led me to buy them. There nice because once you fill it with oil you can put the plugs in and carry it around and not have to wory about spilling anything. They also have wheels built into the back end of it so you can pick it up by the pour spout and pull it around.
