Hydraulic Oil Change

I'm in the process of changing the hydraulic/transmission oil on my Kubota.
Do I put back in the required 4 gals of oil that's called for or do I leave it down some? I have the front hydraulic bucket off the tractor, would this make a difference? Thanks

Fill till it is at the correct level. I don't know if you have a site glass or a dip stick. Either way, fill 3/4 of what is called for then measure and carefully and slowly with checks on the way, fill it up.

This is not a highly precise issue owing to the variability in the castings involved. Consider the area of the dipstick between the highest and lowest levels to be the "safe range". That way you will have adequate oil volume for heat dissipation and to supply the various functions that depend on that reservoir content.

Do this the first time and write down how many ounces it took and you can just dump than many in the next time and won't have to fool with that.

This is what I did when I changed oil in my 2003 bx1500 a while back .
Found out it took 76 ounces to fill it.
When I changed oil in the new bx1500 the other day i just dumped 76 ounces in it with no measuring and carefully and slowly with checks on the way filling it up.
TheBX23 and BX1500 trannys take 12 quarts even .
