Hydraulic Oil Filter

Found a cross reference from a Kubota HH3A0-82623 hydraulic oil filter to a WIX industrial equipment filter WL10043.

Has anyone used this filter and if so, what's your opinion. Significant price difference from the OEM filter.

I am always leery about hydraulic filters. Oil filters is one thing... but it always bothers me with going off brand for hydraulic filters due to the micron filtration and flow requirements.

I've run across where hydraulic filters somehow "cross" into regular engine oil filters. Not good...

Not trusting any WIX cross. For my BX2230, G2160, RTV1100 they spec a 50 micron screen for the inline water blocking fuel filters. You may get away with a cross on the hydraulic fluid filter, but I do not trust any substitutions on the Hydraulic Charge Pump filters on the HST. There have been problems with HSTs being starved on fluid in the past and causing damage or poor performance.

I wouldn't recommend using another brand unless you can verify all the aspects of the filter meets the OE specifications. HYD systems (especially hydrostatic drives) are more sensitive then the oiling system for most engines, sometimes filters that are "close enough" will cross over.

I've cut a few filters apart and found that sometimes its just that a filters will physically fit an application, but the media, drainback valve, etc. doesn't match the OE requirements.
I like wix filters, but I've gone to using OE hyd. filters on my Kubota's, there wasn't much cost difference and I don't have to worry about the aftermarket being correct for the application.

The one time I used an aftermarket hydraulic filter I had immediate problems. It wasn't a Wix filter though.
I personally stick with OEM hydraulic filters.

It's weird all right. But more and more you see whole industries built on nothing more substantial than advertisement. Persuasion has become more believable than performance. That will probably swing back someday.

It never ceases to amaze me just why some folks choose to substitute filters on equipment costing many thousands of dollars.

Cost difference is insequential and unknown variables are introduced. This is especially true of hydrostat filters.

Lets pose this.... Is a magnet necessary for the drain plug in your differential? They all have one... I find your comment borderline stupid.
