Oil & Fuel Hydraulic oil leak from filler cap

Hydraulic oil has started to leak from the filler cap when working on steep cross slopes with my 1845. Tank is not overfilled.
Anyone had this problem? If so, what was the solution?

I have had my gasket leak but I do not remember the cap leaking.

Paper towels?

You are probably over full. Can you take a picture of your dipstick? The other opttion is that your dipstick is just old and the cork is failing (mine did).

Are you sure it is the cap? Mine leaked but it was from the steel plate that is on top of the tank. I took it off and cleaned it and just use some blue gasket sealer and reattached it. I haven't had any problem since.

Thanks for the replies. The leak is definitely from the cap. The leak started months after the last addition of oil to the tank. The dipstick shows oil only at the bottom 1/4". The gasket is rubber, not cork, and I suppose it could no longer provide a satisfactory seal. So far I have been unable to find a proper sized gasket. Does any one have a source?

The reason I was asking about the dipstick photo was to make sure you had a "factory" version. Yup, 1/4" or so on the impossible to read dipstick is correct. Is it pouring out or is it just a drip? No source of gasket material but buying a new dipstick from Tazewell was pretty cheap.
