Oil & Fuel Hydraulic Oil Top-up Cap thread problems. MF135

Any pointers here - or quick remmedies?
I unsrewed the hydraulic oil top-up lid to the left of the gear stick on my MF135 it was stiff but came off ok. Now when I try to screw it back in it goes 3 turns then jams. I had a look at the male thread on the cap is ok, but the female thread on the tractor body has 2 small slash marks across the treads?? not wanting to really tighten it past these points and damage something, at the moment its safe and ok but not ideal, wondering how I can tap the existing thread to clear the cross thread marks or whether there should be a washer there (which wasnt) and I could slip 3 on to cover the difference.

If you go to a parts store and buy yourself one of theses thread retore files you should hopefully beable to take the nicks out and have the cap screw on without problems.Caution before doing that stick a cloth or rag down the hole to catch the metal fillings etc: I've seen these file's around before but just not sure what store.I know the size of that hole is somewhere close to 2" so unless you know someone with a big enough die then try to find that file.As for washer or gaskets on that nut not sure if there ever was anything on them.At least none of the one's I owned or used has had a gasket or washer there. Well I bought a new Oil cap to fit on the left side of the gear lever, and same problem, but I worked out that if I screwed it on 1/2 a turn until it stuck - then back 1/4 turn, then tighten 1/2 turn back 1/4 etc etc, eventually it was a snug as could be and it undid ok aswell, very strange but it works, for the old cap aswell!
