Is the optional hydraulic package that controls thetilt angle of the box scraper worth the extra money? I think they're priced at about $1,500.

Horseman, that package should not only control the tilt but the most important hydraulic function, the top link. Without a hydraulic "top" link, your going to be very limited in what you can do with a boxscraper. At $1500, Kubota should be providing you with the hydraulic top cylinder to replace the threaded link you now have. Its the top connection of the 3 point hitch in case your confused. It should also provide a hydraulic tilit cylinder which will replace the threaded adjustable linkage on the right side of your tractor. In addition, there should be a 3 spool or 3 lever valve that attaches to a conveniant location on your tractor, typically on your right fender area. The 3rd valve can be used to control the hydraulic rippers on a box scraper, the hydraulics on a powered landscape rake etc. Without hydraulic control of the top link, your going to do whatever you do, very slowly. The top link is by far the best possible addition you can make to a tractor, the tilt and 3rd "remote" are just icing on the cake. The 3rd remote as it is called will have two disconnects, much like what you would have on an air compressor only larger or perhaps what you already have on the loader. It will be up to you to get the necessary hoses (2) to finish the job which will depend on the implent you use on back. I use 2, 5 foot, 3/8" hoses to run my rake and/or box scraper hydraulic ripers. Whether it's worth the money depends a lot on what you are doing with it, and how often you are willing to climb on and off the tractor to adjust the links. Anything you can do with hydraulic "Top 'N Tilt", you can do with the manual adjustments, it just takes longer (of course by that token, I could mow 5 acres with a push mower, or dig a 300 ft trench with a shovel).

I started off with the manual adjustments, and soon found that I really wanted the hydraulics. The more you use the box blade, and the more varied the terrain you are starting with, the more you'll wish you had the hydraulic adjustments.

Thanks for your posts, you pretty much answered all the pluses of having a Top/Tilt hydrualic kit installed. They are quoting a Gearmore kit. Doesn't Kubota make such an item for their tractors or is just a less expensive way to go?

Kubota uses other manufactuers products for almost all the TnT kits. Mine uses Gannon cylinders, Parker hoses and fittings and the 3 spool valve I don't remember. It was supplied to me by Kubota. The one advantage with Kubota was that it all fit like a glove. Gearmore makes or obtains high quality stuff as well. Which ever way you go, it will be a great improvement over the exisiting threaded adjusters. Once you have it, you could never go back, Rat...
