Hydraulic PHD ID and questions?

He has the 3rd function installed on his loader for it but I am thinking about pricing a couple 15' extensions to run to my rear remotes. Any feedback on doing something like that?

The only problem with this is visibility. For the sake of lazyness I put my (hyd) phd on the tractor (loader) rather than getting the SS for just a pair of holes, In my gravely soils I had forgot that it takes quite a few "passes" with the auger because of material falling back into the hole. I made a mess of the first hole (I was only trying to burry a 4X4 on the end of a firewood stack) and actually stopped, switched the phd on to the SS for ability to "hit the hole" with subsequent passes. Rear hoses will work fine to the front, but a helper would make life much easier for building a fenceline where you have a lot of holes to drill and, who wants a crooked fence:D

Glad the hoses to rear works well. Don't really have a grand to spend on the third function right now so that option is nice to have. Might have to just go see both of them and see what kind of deal I can work out. Normally I would go with the seller I feel more comfortable with to break a tie but both seem like very good guys so not really a help here. I will also need to round up a bit more cash as we sent in our taxes and got the return then last week they sent us a bill to take back a chunk of it. The government gives then taketh away:). Thanks again

No one has mentioned hose size, from what I have read, I think you need 1/2 inch ID for the PHD and that would work fine for a grapple, even though grapples work OK on smaller hoses.

My rear fittings were half inch and that's all Fleet Farm by me carries in a hose that long. A 15' 1/2" hose is $34. The flat face connectors to match the borrowed bobcat auger cost more than the hoses.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys. I ended up going to see the hydraulic PHD and bought it. Works pretty well but I believe the cutting edges and screw point need to be replaced or sharpened. I will do some research and see what is best for my clay soil plus I don't know the make of the auger so could be some searching to find parts that will fit. Over the winter I will have a bracket fabricated to attach it to our forks on the FEL for some down pressure as well but no time for that now...too busy putting in our fence.

Thanks again.

Good deal:

Shouldn't be too hard to find cutting edges and a screw point, there only a few different styles of augers.
