Hi all,
I'm trying to take the hydraulic piston off of an excavator dipper stick. I can drive the pin out easily (the pin that fits through the end of the hydraulic piston "T"). I thought the piston would then drop free, but it seems to be stuck in there. I think that the bushings that fit in the end of the piston have gotten jammed against the inside of the dipper stick collar. I tried drifting the bushings back toward the center, but I can't get a good enough purchase on them to apply much force. I tried retracting and jerking on the dipper cylinder itself, but the thing won't break free. Is this a common problem with a solution I just can't figure out? Am I supposed to use some type of bearing puller to separate the bushing from the outer collar? My only other thought was to put a piece of wood against the end of the piston and hit it with a maul trying to force the "T" onto the bushing.
This is for an old Drott Cruz Air 40 so the piston size is pretty big (5"+ dia) and even the pin seems like 2.5"+ dia and at least a foot long.
Thanks for any help
