Kubota L48
My package that is being put together right now includes a McMillen 1975 PHD with my Kubota L48. But rcspott just pointed out the fact the the X1975 calls for 15 to 30 gpm, and the L48 has 12.7 gpm flow off the loader hydraulics. This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Input anyone? Tony

I think you'll only be able to use the smaller diameter augers and even then, it may stall in tough digging situations. If you need more flow, you might have to go to a PTO pump and maybe even add an additional hydraulic reservoir. This is as much for cooling of the fluid as it is quantity of fluid.

For average digging with a small auger, you'll need to use hoses that are as short as possible and as large diameter as possible, especially the return hose.

Bradco - Mcmillen has an X975 Hydraulic Post Hole Digger which is suitable for 10 - 15 GPM. That's what we've been selling to CUT owners. Good Luck

Thanks Tractorman, this unit sounds appropriately sized...I love this site, it's saving me alot of aggravation with the knowledge available from the vast collective experiences and insight of members such as yourself /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Tony

Tony,

I looked it up on www.skidsteersolutions.com and found the unit I am leaning toward. It is a 7 to 25 gpm hydraulic flow and will handle up to 24 inch augers. The augers they offer are a bit les caostly than the other brands. I spoke to the rep and had good vibes about this unit. The auger head is easily removed from the quick tach plate to allow the plate to be used for things like a boom pole. When it happens- this is the one I will be getting.

Just letting you know what I have found. BTW- it is 1195 for the unit plus bits. Not bad for one of these units.
