Thanks guys ,now were getting somewhere, i looked at a pump at nortern tool . says two stage concentric pump 28 gpm. i have a 18 hp engine ready to go. so im going to use the cyl on my other splitter its about a five inch on the outside diameter with a 2.5 shaft it works good but has the small typical 2 stage pump and a single splitter wedge also with a 18 hp . will this be enough for a six way wedge.

5in outside dia doesnt really tell you what the inside dia is, you can guess pretty close and i would guess you have a 4.5in cyl. your 28gpm pump is rated at 3000psi. I use a 5in cyl for 6way splits and dont even know what the pressure is set at, less than 3000psi I am sure, and it will split 6ways thru knots, or most any crotch I throw at it. I did stall it once in a 48in dia knotty white oak, but I backed it up and turned the log a little and it ran right thru it.

I would confirm what pump is on it.18hp it probably has a 22gpm already. Not what I would consider small. 18hp may struggle with 28gpm. And real speed increase won't be that noticable, and would probably require a larger valve also.
What is the capacity of the current tank?
As to 6-way working, depends on the wood you are splitting. You will always find something you can't split, regardless of how big you go

I didn't catch the 5" on The outside part. Yea, probably a 4.5" cylinder. Which is more typical to have a 16gpm pump and 8-10 HP motor. Why does it have an 18? Homemade?
