I have a Deere 5065E with one set of rear remotes. I currently use it mainly for a hydraulic top link, but I also use it to a run a plastic mulch winder. However I have to hold the lever down to keep the fluid flowing. I recently purchased a new root digger and will be using the remotes for the same purpose to move the chains. It gets a little old holding down the lever, but its not a big deal.
Should I be looking to add another set of remotes or is it fine to use my current set up? If adding another set, which type?

Thanks in advance.

You're probably better to add another set of remotes so you don't have to constantly change between top link and implement.

Probably a remote with detent function. The lever will stay in position in whatever direction you choose.

Or one with spring return, like the one you have, and just use a bungee cord to keep pulling the lever.

When I added remotes, I put on two without detents for my top and tilt cylinders and a third with a detent to run a post pounder. My application is similar to yours, when I'm using the pounder I want the remote valve to stay on all the time because the pounder has a separate valve at the operators station to make the ram go up and down. As the other poster said you could just use a bungee cord, that works too.

Is there such a thing as too many remotes? :D I have three on my Ford.

A detent kit can be added to most valves. I've seen them sold separately. They replace the rear cup on a valve body.
