I would like to add a 3 spool hydraulic remote valve to my Kubota L2800. It is hydrostatic drive with a loader. How should I tap into the hydraulic system of the tractor, and once the valve is added will it power a log splitter with its own valve without tying one of the valve handles down. The new 3 spool valve I have has power beyond.
Any advice would be very helpfull, Thanks

If you do a search for Rear Remote you will probably find one of the 100 or so times I have described the plumbing. However, I will do it once more.
  • Disconnect the hose that goes from the loader valve's power beyond port to the tractor's hydraulic block at the hydraulic block.
  • Using a union fitting connect this hose with a new hose to the aux valve's inlet port. You can also remove the loader hose entirely and run a single longer hose from the loader's PB port to the inlet of the new aux valve.
  • Connect a hose from the aux valve's power beyond port to the tractor's hydraulic block port where the loader hose used to go.
  • Connect a hose from the aux valve's tank port to wherever the loader vale's tank port hose goes. It might be the lower port on the hydraulic block on a L2800 (if it has 3 ports) or directly to the tractor's sump. Use a tee fitting here and connect the loader and aux valve tank hoses to the tank port. These are the only lines that may be teed together.
  • You are now all set to go.
I am not sure how you are planning on connecting your log splitter. It you connect it to one of the spools of the aux valve then you have to either have a detent spool where the lever can be held open on its own or tie the spool lever open. The work ports of valve spools are only activated then the corresponding lever is activated.

Thanks for the help, sounds simple enough.
A friend of mine is doing the same thing to his L3400 someone told him to use the return line the same way that you described using the power beyond line, will that also work or will he lose one device while operating the other.

It will not work. That "someone" doesn't appear to know anything about hydraulics or how a valve with power beyond works in an open center system. It MUST be connected as I described or the aux valve will not work.

When a valve has a power beyond port fluid will flow from the inlet to the power beyond port when all the spools are in neutral. When a spool is activated the exhaust fluid from the cylinders is directed to the return to tank port.

Thanks again, you have been very helpfull in convincing my friend that his way will not work.

Actually, the aux valve and it's spools will work. But what won't work is whatever is connected after the aux valve, which is the 3pt. By connecting the aux valve's power beyond port to the tractor's return to tank line you have effectively ended the circuit with the aux valve.

Mad, you oughta just cut 'n' paste that to a text file on your computer (if you haven't already). Save a bunch of typing.
