I see on E-bay that redland hill?? is selling hydraulic side links without the check valves. I just checked CCM and they still do not have any. has anyone used them without the check valves? Is there a source for the right check valves ( double pilot operated check valves )? I will be going on line and getting one, I have been waiting about a year for someone to build hydraulic side links.

In my opinion, a hydraulic sidelink is not nearly as critical as the hydraulic toplink because the sidelinks always float (no down pressure). I have no DPOCV on my sidelink and have no problem with leakdown or tilt position when mowing, plowing, or using my boxblade. For the toplink it makes a big difference, but I don't see the need for the sidelink. I can mow all day and maybe have to adjust for leakdown only once.

My sidelink is a TISCO sidelink I bought from my New Holland dealer. I had to get a top swivel ball welded onto it and had 2" cut off the hydraulic ram and the fork rewelded. After that, it has worked fine.

Side link (tilt link) stroke and retracted length is critical. It should match your factory adjustable side link. When the cylinder is half extended the total length of the cylinder should be half of the max possible adjustment, usually the length of the fixed side.

I have found that the tilt cylinder is almost never used. If you are doing considerable landscaping then your usage might be different. My tilt cylinder had DPOCV's but for the limited use that the tilt link gets, it's probably not necessary. I only install it when absolutely necessary.

I have a homemade hydraulic side link without a pilot valve on my 4520 and it works fine. I've found it extremely useful for grading and hole digging. Don't have a hyd. top link and don't feel like I need one.

Gabby I really think that if you used a hydraulic top link it would quickly grow on you. I find myself constantly adjusting mine when using the box blade for to achieve different angles of attack on the blade. In fact the only implement that I've found that it can't be used with it is the BH.

This is one of those applications where the term try it, you'll like it applies.

Hey Pine Ridge,
Maybe so, but I think it would get in the way more than it would help me. I use a rollover blade and I just pull a lever and the teeth swing down for ripping. I mow with my 7610 tractor and a pull type 10' mower. My auger doesn't use a top link so I would have to detach the hyd. top link to use the auger. Plus I don't have another remote valve to control it.
