hydraulic system sluggish

I have a Kubota L245DT tractor.

The hydralic system is becomming more sluggish and at times doesn't work at all. I am referring to the loader and the three point hitch. I started to hear a squeeling noise first so I checked the fluid level.

I have added fluid to the overflow level as indicated in the manual. I have added to the level through a plug at a point just in front of the seat.
I tried the system again, but there was no change.

What else might I look for to correct this situation. Do I need to bleed the pump or the lines?

Any help would be appreciated.

Is the 3 point selector engaged? Some have found this to be a cause for slow hydraulics.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

i am assuming that the 3 point selector that you are referring to is the lever used to raise and lower the attachments. The only other adjustment is the attachment down speed. I have tried these in numerous settings.

Is it cold where you are? You may have a little moisture in your hydraulic system and it is freezing and plugging filter. Put it in a heated area for 24 hours and see if it works better, that will tell you if you have a moisture problem.

I would guess you have a pluged filter and the noise is the pump starving for oil. I would get it in where it is warm and change the fluid and filter. If you just change the filter and have moisture in the system it will plug the new filter with ice.

You say you added fluid what type of fluid did you add?
i use 90w gear oil for the fluid

If Bill is right, and I tend to think he is, you are hearing cavitation, which can destroy the pump. Besides a plugged filter, an incorrect filter will also cause the problem, and it may only show up in cold weather. I had that happen. Replacing the apparently correct aftermarket filter with an OEM filter took care of it.

You should not operate your tractor until you have changed your filter.
