I am building a log splitter and will fabricate my own hydraulic tank.
I am still waiting on parts but was was wondering what size to make the suction and discharge ports in the tank? I see the pre made ones have a 1.5 or 2" suction, but all splitters i have seen are necked down smaller. Also any suggestions for tank size? I know the bigger the better for cooling, what would be adequate?
And any suggestions on where to put the ports, i would imagine the suction would go towards the bottom and the return would come in close to the top?
I have never done this and want to make it right. I am using a 200cc Honda engine with a 13.6gpm pump.
Thanks for your replies!
