I need to set up a remote valve to run an auger motor from a skidsteer. The skidsteer will be about 40 feet from the auger motor. I was planning to put the skidsteer in continuous flow on the auxiliary port and then having a valve at the location of the auger motor to control forward and reverse. When the valve is in the center position the flow should just pass through back to the skidsteer.

Will this valve work? 1 SPOOL 25 GPM RD512EA5A4B1 OC MOTOR SPOOL VALVE

What about this one? 1 SPOOL 20 GPM PRINCE RD-2575-M4-ESA1 MOTOR VALVE

I see that the second one has a lower flow rating and it looks like the second one would lock the motor from turning when in the center position and the first one would allow the motor to free-wheel.

Can someone help me out here? The quote for the valve from the manufacturer of the motor was $750 which seems steep so I wanted to see if I could put together one less expensive. The $750 included connectors, pressure gages, etc.

Thanks,
Kevin

J_J, thanks for the help.

The aux. hydraulics do have forward and reverse but i need to run this auger in a basement and I can't operate the controls of the skidsteer from there. I just want to use the skidsteer as a hydraulic power source.

Thanks for the link. I considered a detented valve but thought a spring return might be a little safer in this application.

I install helical piers for foundation stabilization and raising. I have attached an image of our typical configuration with a drive motor attached to a skidsteer. I have an application where I need to run a smaller version of this drive motor in a basement to install the piers on an interior wall.

The small drive head is held in place with some temporary support beams. I don't have a picture of this setup but it requires some able body men ;).

Thanks,
Kevin

Is the lower part a coupler or a planetary gear box?

It is a planetary gearbox. The smaller drive is rated for 6500 lb-ft of torque and the larger one is rated for 13,000 lb-ft of torque. The piers are screwed in at about 15rpm.

Are you sure it is foot pounds and not inch pounds? If it is foot pounds that is truly impressive! CJ

It must run at slower rpm's. But that kind of torque is still stout. Most of the power units I build for the oilfields are in the 11,000 ft lb range at 150 rpm. I am slowly piecing together components that will provide 25,000 ft lbs but that has been a long process! It is the rpm's that cost so much to achieve. CJ
