My L3010 has a 7 GPM hydraulic capability. If I was going to choose between a 8 GPM max or 20 GPM max single spool dual acting valve to control my grapple would one be better choice than the other? Independent of size and cost. Thanks.

It does not matter as long as the valve is rated equal to or greater than the pump output.
I would choose the 8gpm unit because it is probably physically smaller and easier to mount than the 20gpm valve.

The 20 GPM valve might also not respond so well on "feathering".....feathering works better if the valve flow rating corresponds to the pump flow....using a way over sized valve, will be like trying to fill a little shot glass with water using a fire hydrant valve....

Thanks for the info. Sounds like all good reasons to go for the 8 GPM unit.
