Hydraulic Winch

Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but it's got ot be close.


I've been wanting to put a winch on the front of my dk35 since the day I brought it home. I have an 8000# electric that I was planning on putting there, but I just found this little guy on Craigs list.

I'm not trying to 'log' with it, mostly pull old field fence, a tree or 2, and maybe to assist if I do manage to get myself stuck.

The listing reads

Ramsey model 7 hydraulic winch. 3000 pound rating. Has 1/4 inch cable with hook, and has -8 hydraulic fittings. (It will take -10 fitting if needed) $200

- I haven't had any luck getting much more out of him.

IT's a little rough looking. At the least I would have to fab some sort of mount, and source a fairlead.




Anybody know what this thing is, what it's worth, and how it mounts?

It looks like one of their small, worm gear industrial winches. I don't know what it is worth. You can download manuals from the Ramsey website, www.ramsey.com. Maybe you can find the info you need there mounting, etc.

I would not think 3000 lb is much of winch for a tractor your size.

I don't think there is a freespool on that particular unit. With that size motor it might be a bit on the slow side.

Do check it out though. I have an 8000lb hyd unit permanently mounted in my loader frame. I can't imagine having a tractor without one now.

Looks like the line speed is pretty decent. 27 fpm at the full 3k load. The electric I have is 37 ftp at no load, but only 13 fpm at 4k. So not shabby.

However the lack of freespool is killer. I guess I'm going to pass on it (although I might throw a nice lowball offer to him..)
