Have 500 hours on Kioti LB1914. The front end loader is not as responsive as it was for the first few hundred hours. Is there some adjustment that will make the loader more responsive?

oil change? filter change?

if the filter isnt flowing like a new one that will cut down on both your pressure and flow rate. (Q = speed)

Check the linkage from your control lever to the valves. Sounds like you aren't getting pressure, and if the valves aren't opening all the way that would be another possible reason. Most linkages have adjustments in them - some don't, but get bent out of alignment. Bending them around might help - or might break something, so be cautious about that route.

First off, 500 hours is a normal point to do some more involved maintenance. There is usually an intake screen that needs to be taken out and cleaned, a filter or two that need to be replaced and the old fluid swapped with new.

If you do that and it is still less responsive, you may need to adjust the hydraulic pressure. That is done by adjusting the pressure relief valve. Three common methods. 1) Non-adjustable pre-set relief. You measure the pressure it is opening at and if too low, buy a replacement. 2) Shim adjustable. You take it apart and put a thin shim under the spring. Usually 0.030 is equal to 100-150 psi. 3) screw adjustable relief. As it sounds, you turn a screw to tighten or looen the tension on the spring.

Normal pressure settings are 2000 to 2750 psi. It is IMPORTANT that you get the correct set point for your tractor, a guage and set it to the correct level. There will be a range ex 2450-2550 psi. Set it to the high side as the spring will age and relax, resulting in a lower pressure.

If you adjust the relief and still have issues, the pump may be bad. Rebuild kits should be available from the mfg and are usually reasonable (if you do the work). They are pretty easy to do. Just work on a VERY CLEAN area and the pump will like you for a long time.
