I would like to get everyone's opinion on a hydraulic issue I have.
Background: about 2 months ago I started my tractor and after a short warm up began some loader work. Noticed the tractor was low on power but just thought it need to warm up some more. After about 10 minutes I saw the problem. The lever that moves the 3 pt up and down was in the full down position. That is not bad except my tractor has a lock on the 3 point that can lock it in the up position. The 3 pt was locked and tractor wanted the 3 pt down. After I noticed this I unlocked the 3 point and tractor resumed normal operation with regular power.
Ever since then when operating the loader I hear a thumping sound coming from what sounds like the hydraulic pump. The thumping sound is kinda like what a hammer drill would sound like. I only hear the thumping sound when I am trying to lift the main loader or pulling in the bucket. No thumping sound when lowering loader, or dumping bucket. Also when raising loader, once loader cylinders are fully extended the thumping sound stops even if lever is still calling for up condition.
Also, when loader bucket is full of dirt sound does not happen. Have disconnedted loader quick attaches and tried to determine if thumping happens with 3 pt. It thumps when 3 point is loaded, but only a SLIGHT tapping when raising 3 pt unloaded.
I have not noticed any change in the abilities of the loader or 3pt.
Have I ruined my pump? I hope not. Any advise would be appricated.....
