Brush Hogged the pasture last week and all went fine. FEL and 3 pt worked perfect. Backed it out of the barn today and the whole hydraulic system stopped shortly after. Fluid was low so I refilled but still no flow. Screen filter was cleaned 4 weeks ago. Tranny is functioning fine. Could my pump have just suddenly gone bad? Could it have an air lock of some sort? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifAny thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated for this mechanically impaired "farmer"... Thx

Suddenly is usually preceded by noise or engine bogging or staliing. Did the Fel work after you started it this time? Did the 3pt lift or did the falure occur when you raised the 3pt leaver. There is a valve under the seat that if closed and yu attempt to raise the 3pt it can sheer a pin in the pump. If this valve is closed (screwed fully clockwise to stop) That is most likely the problem.

Thanx Normmm, Fel did work after I started it. I lifted the bucket and the brush hog to back out of the barn. although the lift lever for the 3 point was hard to pull up- not the usual smooth. There was no noise but after I put them both down they wouldn't budge. Took off a couple of fittings on the Fel and messed with the levers but no fluid coming out... Is that pin (if broken) replaceable or does the entire pump need replaced? Seems the valve you are referring to was about midway open. There was an odd noise last week when I was mowing- kinda sounded like another "fan" running or something. Greg

No fluid flow can be caused by clogged filters. The 10 series has 2 filters in the circut. One external and one in the trans housing connected to the return line. I had a similar problen. My hydraulics would work when I first started the tractor but then quit. Clogged filter was only letting a small flow of fluid and then the pump could not get fluid to pump. you could change the external filter and see if this helpes but you should check both filters anyway. Drain the trans. This thing holds 3 to 6 gal of oil so have one or more large containers ready for the oil. a service manual would be of help. The stifness of the lift control is an indicator of a problem. Check the linkage. It is normal to find fileings in the filter screen cleane it with solvent and a air hose being careful not to damage the screens. After this is done and the fluid replaced. if there is still no flow then think pump drive sheer pin.
