Tractor
Ford 2100
Hello, I have Ford 2100 circa 1980's and when it heats to operating temp, hydraulics stop, power steering, 3PH and FEL. I've cleaned filters, changed fluid, checked all valves and replaced O rings. Also checked 3PH lift cylinder seal and replaced hydraulic pump seals and O rings. I've another all surfaces with emery paper in the pump which had some wear. I'm at the end of options and need some help. I'm thinking maybe the pump is warn out but want to make sure before purchasing replacement. Everything works fine when tractor is cold but hydraulic performance steadily reduces as tractor heats up and then stops working altogether.

Classic signs of a failed pump, especially after changing fluid and filters. If you want to be sure a pump efficiency flow test will tell the tale.

Thanks RickB, appreciate response. Is efficiency flow test via a special item of equipment or a bucket and timer as per suggestions in other posts? Limited fluid comes out of the relief valve just past the flow control.

An efficiency test uses a flow meter with a pressure gauge and needle valve. Pump flow is observed at free flow and near system relief pressure and compared. Something the average guy would pay to have done rather than buy the tooling for one time use.

How did you clean the filters? Why not just get new ones?
