Hydraulics

   / Hydraulics #21
It was the hydraulic filter, the 80-90 oil clogged it up. Plus it was low on hydraulic fluid in the rear. Duh! Now the problem is I can not lift a full load of anything. Sometimes it slowly raises with a half of a load in the bucket. I think I may have damaged the pump some how 2 summers ago when bush hogging the hollow. The underbrush pulled the quick connect line out but did not disconnect the line. When I could lift the bucket I notice the hydraulic pump was really hot, really hot. I could smell the hot, I could feel the hot. It was hot! Can a hydraulic pump be rebuilt? I have read some of the post suggesting using a pressure gauge. The bucket will raise and lower really fast when nothing is in it. Where can i buy a book "tractor for dummies".

Before you do anything, put a pressure gage on it and see if you have correct pressure. Hyd fluid should be around 180 to 200 degrees, but some do run higher. Not good to run real hot for a long time. Check and see if you have a relief valve stuck.

Just ask your questions here and someone will try and answer them. There are plenty of books and CD's on hydraulics.

Waldron,

With that QC not connected, You probably overheated hyd pump beyond repair running your tractor in full hydraulic relief (relief valve at full pressure will build lots of heat)...the best way to properly diagnose pump health and efficiency is to find someone with a Flowmeter/load valve/guage setup in your area to temporarily install inline in the output hose......this will give flow readings and pressure readings while inducing a simulated load and will show flow rates/pressures while using hyd functions on your tractor....Otherwise you'll be playing guessing games:thumbsup:

At least you can be sure your pump is good or bad then move on.....

hello,
Are you what to know the details of Hydraulics or someother industries equipments, you can see the here: Hydraulic Torque Wrench | Hydraulic Torque Wrenches | Hydraulic Bolting Tools. It is very useful to you improve your knowledge in Hydraulics and some other materials used in Industries and Companies.

Thanks,
