Hi everyone,I own a forestry service and am looking to purchase a 411 hydro ax with a shear.I would also like to be able to run a mulching head on it and am trying to find any info on what i would have to do to get the hyd. flow and any other changes to make it work. i have talked to about 10 different people and have gotten about 10 different answers. any help would be appreciated.thanks Frank

Talk to a Hydro-Ax dealer.
I worked for a Hydro-Ax dealer years ago and they have all sorts of pumps with different flows and pressure so they can run a variety of implements. Most of what I dealt with was for timber harvesting, but I've seen those machines with lots of other attachments as well. The parts catalogs used to list all the different pumps with the flows and pressures so you could match up to what you needed.

Speaking in general about hydraulic HP, the current aux hyd pump for any machine was designed to use a specific amount of HP from the engine, and the cooling system was designed with things like continuous flow in mind. 8 hrs a day everyday perhaps.
With the current pump specs in mind, you can find a cutting unit that can match up to the the aux pump specs. There may be a chance that you can upgrade the pump for a higher flow, and use larger cutting attachments. Some additional cooling may be required. Heat will be the major problem.
