I just test drove a new TC29D and the hydro drive acted different than my 3 year old one with 280 hours on it. When I drive mine, if I let up on the pedal, it takes a few seconds for it to come to a stop when it's cold, and still takes about a second when it's warm. It's always been that way. The new one I drove was still cold and when I let up on the pedal, it stopped immediately - so quick that it locked the rear wheels and skidded to a stop. How does yours act?

My TC40D acts like the new one you test drove. You let up on the pedal and the wheels stop, NOW! If its in 4WD and if you don't have the seat belt fastened you end up with the steering wheel in your gut since all four drive wheels stop immediately. Learned this the hard way when I once turned off cruise while moving along around 8 mph. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Danny, if I don't lube my pedal mechanism, my TC-45 becomes sluggish. If you get under your platform and lube the hydro pedal rollers your "slowness" will probably go away. In addition, you might need to adjust your return spring pressure. I don't have the details on a Class II, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhat similar to a Class III. Your dealer should certainly be able to help you with that.

I think there is a dampening device built in to the direction pedal. It is like a gas charged cylinder. This is to prevent too fast of a direction change. It sounds like the one on the new tractor isn't quite working yet. It might start to after a while. The hydro pedal on my TC-33 with 50 hours on it seems to operate normally. I do let up on it gradually when I need to slow down or change directions though. BUSBOY

Im glad you mentioned that shutting off cruise control will bring to a hault. I was gonna spread fertilizer tomorrow at 6 or 7mph and if i would have hit switch i would have sore gut. maybe on grass there will be some slippage unlike pavement.

Thanks for the heads up!!

I learned the hard way also. Don't shut off the cruise unless you have your foot on the pedal so you can bring it back slowly. It is a rude awakening. I really don't use the cruise much anyway, it was more just to make sure it worked. As far as my hydro being sluggish, I am starting to see that at 90 hours now. It is not near as sensitive as when I bought it. I will look for greasing it also. If fact it doesn't hold it in mid position on a hill like it use to also.

Sounds like I'm glad I like a clutch & shifter! I wouldn't like this situation at all. Or maybe I'm just too old a dog.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mine is just the opposite. When I turn off the cruise control, it takes a couple seconds to come to a stop. Sounds like mine needs to be adjusted to slow it down quicker and some others need to be adjust to slow it down slower.

This is a thread on how to do this. I haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Last year I had a problem with a "sticky" hydro pedal. Delayed response and creeping tractor. The fix was simple requiring a readjustment of a dampening piston. Posted the solution. Don't remember the details. You will have to do a search. Try "sticking hydro pedal".
