Oil & Fuel hydro fluid loss at service

Did the 50 hr service on my L2800 the other day and I lost close to 6 qts of fluid b4 I could remove the magnetic ring clean and replace it in new filter-- 50 hr service cost me @ $120.00 :thumbsup: Am i slow or what-- How much you lose

About half a quart -- thought about how I would plug it to give me time to do the cleaning and didn't have a proper size rubber stopper like some use, so I took a heavy duty rubber glove and stuffed one of the fingers with tissue and jammed that into the hole quickly. Worked fine, whatever you use, make sure that it will all come back out and not get stuck in there.

How about buying a spare plug? Not a big ticket item. Or upgrade to a magnetic plug and keep the regular one for this kind of thing.

We lose about a quart, but our new filters already have a magnet on them.

I use a Shop-Vac hooked up to the oil fill hole, a 1.25 " hose works well. The vacuum prevents too much oil from leaking out, but you will get a little oil in the hose, so plan on having an extra length of vac pipe for this.

Another way is to have a few clean 5 gallon buckets handy, drain the oil down to below the filter, then re-add it after you're done changing the filter.

I drop the oil when I change filters, all 13 gallons.
