Being new to hydrostatic drive I want to make sure this is normal. When going up hill or under load the tranny whines quite a bit. I have checked the fluid level and all is fine. Is it normal?

Probably so. I guess it might depend on how much whine, but they all do it.

It is kinda fiunny because it seems everyone gets on this board and then they ask "which tractor questions" and then when they finally decide and bring their new tractor home predictably the first questions they ask are about the hydro transmission whine, "is this normal"---yep, they whine and it is normal and the more load it is under and the faster it is run the more it will whine. All hydro units do this but the small LT units you may have used before are relatively quite due to their small size. The BX is louder than a LT or even most GT but then it is a larger tractor. It may dimenish some as the tractor gets some time on it but it will always whine going up hills, pulling things or under load. Hope this puts your mind at ease. JMy 2410 under heavy load realy screams --(to me)---I asked my dealer the same question---rode several around the parking lot--they were even louder. J

Thanks. Just checking.

It's the tranmissions way of letting you know you are moving with the brake on!

HST's are noisy, just the way it is. A good set of earplugs helps, but then you mute that nice engine noise.

Good luck with your new tractor.

My B8200 whines a bit. But, it also makes another sound, but not all the time. I swear it sounds like someone saying "weeky-weeky-weeky". I thought it was'nt having time to warm up, so I let it warm up longer. But, then it will do it when hot too. It does it intermittently. One time I use the tractor, it does it, another time it doesn't.

I have asked before, but could not come up with a good answer.

I have kept an eye on the hydraulic fluid. It is clean and clear. I have changed it twice on regular maintnance, once with Kubota stuff, the other with 76 oil. Didn't make a difference.

Do you set your brake sometimes when you park it in the barn? It may be that simple..... Also, sometimes my deck wheels squeek at times..... Start spraying the obvious parts with WD40.... Heck, I don't know,, I'm just guessing.....

You could walk beside it while someone else is driving and try to locate it....... Carry your WD40 with you.... At least it makes things shinny.............

Robert, I think I remember the weeky, weeky post. Did you check your rear wheel hubs to see if they were tight where they mount on the axle? I can't remember.

I was concerned with hydro noise when I first got my NH TC 21 D. From what I've learned on TBN, hydro's tend to be noisy. In your case, as in mine, it is probably normal. If you have any doubt check with your dealer.

I don't think setting the brake overnight could cause squeeking with a Kubota tractor equipped with an oil cooled internal brake. The brake is internal within the transmission case, it is not a disc or shoe at the wheels such as on an ATV or automobile. J
