I was wondering if running a tractor at operating throttle and going slow would be better or worse for it? Its fine, don't run at too low of rpm but you can back off of the throttle some as long as the motor does not load down I often run from 1500 to 2000 rpm.if the work is light, If the work is heavy run the throttle up to the PTO speed for maximum power.. If its run slow does it have more or less torque? If you run in a low range with less hydro pedal, then the torque is greater. Higher range and a higer setting of the hydro pedal, then the torque is less. Is it like running a regular tranny at higher rpm but in a lower gear? More or less. Keep in mind that the range selector IS just selecting gear ranges just like a manual transmission. But the hydro pedal is adjusting a swash plate angle.
Sorry if its a stupid one but just wonderin. No question is stupid if asked in earnest.
Any comment would be greatly appreciated.
