In purchasing my 6530 with geared transmission but shuttle shifter, I had no detectible whine, nor did I have whine in my steering pump. As time passed I started getting annoying whine and blamed my THD Premium fluid..
As posted herein, I accidentally stumbled across a rubber hose connecting the pipe from the main sump to the common shaft main and steering pump inputs which had deteriorated and was letting air into the pump on the suction side.
Well, after installing a new hose ($22) and running it for awhile, getting all the air bubbles out, the whines are gone.
I thank the guys on here that said the pump was sucking air answering my posting of the problem.
So, as a thank you and a heads up for you folks with annoying hydro whine, maybe your pump(s) are sucking a little air. I should have done something about it when I saw it. The engine is dusty but has no oil leaks.....other than the last time I had the side panels off and noticed some oily residue around the bottom of the pumps (both were sucking air...same hose, one inlet 2 outlets)......which (recollecting) had never been there before. I should have investigated and you might think about that for your equipment.
