I am a creature of habit. I was out on one of my trails in the woods with my lawn tractor (not my compact) filling up a small trailer with fallen limbs last night. I got back on my lawn tractor and I immediately reached for my seatbelt. The habit of immediately putting on my seat belt when I get on my New Holland is now so much a habit that I tried to do it on my little lawn tractor that doesn't even have a seat belt.

I know the feeling, Spencer! I had to move a staff car from one stall to the next stall over so the mechanics could get to a piece of machinery (we don't let them in the staff cars when they're wearing their coveralls! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

So I get in, back out, angle over and pull in to the next stall. As I get out, the mechanics are standing there laughing like crazy. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif? So I ask what's so funny. They said that it was the first time they'd ever seen someone put on a seatbelt to move a car 10 feet inside of a garage! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Spencer, as you probably know, I recently sold my tractor and bought a Craftsman lawn tractor (riding mower) and I've caught myself feeling for the seat belt two or three times already./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I had to laugh when I read this. I just had an experience yesterday with this. Although I always wear my seatbelt in the car, I don't have the habit well enough on the tractor yet. Recently I had a dangerous situation and I didn't have my belt on. I resolved myself to do better.

Yesterday I was moving some dirt and realized I had not remembered to put my seatbelt on. Angry with myself I reached across for it...and it was already on! I evidently did it without thinking. I smiled and thought "now you got it!"./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
