I am now detent-less on my DK45SE

Yup most brands with detents kick out. Which is bloody annoying if you accidentally dead head the wood splitter because you have to get back up in the cab. I wish my Kubota had the detents, not even an option.

Couldn't you buy a valve that would work within your particular tractor's pressure settings, such as SSdoxie mentions a couple of posts below yours?
Just because Kubota doesn't sell them doesn't mean you couldn't buy one...

I'am going to neuter mine. Ideally I would do as Coyote machine did and second set of detentless remotes. At this time I do not think I need 2 sets.

My remote lever goes into detent easy. It comes out hard and I usually go into detent in the other direction. I use the remotes to angle a snow plow. This is a real pain. Also flow is slow just out of detent.

However when I remove them I will check to see if lub will correct the issue.

I removed my DK35SE detents today. I wanted them out before winter for better control of the snowblower chute. There were a few times I slipped into detent directing snow in unwanted places (including on me). I'm amazed I did it in great weather today instead of procrastinating until winter.

Tpulley's photos and instructions in this thread, and the four-page Bobcat instructions someone posted on another thread made it easy. The "pro and con" discussions were great. They alerted me to the potential harm in accidently dead-heading the hydraulics and helped me determine the configuration that is right for me.

After doing some searching I found this older post but it is still relevant to our new tractor.

We just got our DK4210SE and it came with the detent style rear remote with the lever beside the seat and I was afraid if the lever got knocked it would dead head the pump and do damage.

I really see no need for a detent remote except for a back hoe or a log splitter. I don't plan on getting a back hoe attachment and don't see the sense of running a 40hp diesel engine to run a splitter.

After removing the detent balls the control valve is now smoother to operate and no worries about doing damage.

Thanks for this post.

Kind of curious about this, and a little off-topic, but.. Is there any way to convert a valve (detent or not) to add a float function? I always thought the detent vs non was a totally different valve; I now see it's not, so wondered if the float vs non was also as simple as a little valve surgery.
