Great engines. I have the 2007 373 gears 5.9 325 HP 600 TQ . The great part.. It's from a 6 cyl engine:laughing: Plenty of room in the engine bay:thumbsup:

You get a room full of space if you go with another maker :D

If it's an oiled filter like K&N throw it as far as you can and install a standard Hi quality paper filter from NAPA, Purolator or BHAF (BIG HONKIN AIR FILTER)!!
If you look at a light source through a K&N or other oiled cotton air filter you can actually see through the media. If you can see through media then dust can enter the engine and slowly destroy one of the finest engines ever made.
There are those that love them (K&N) and will argue in their favor.
For those that support K&N bring your facts to the table such as the micron rating (smallest particle captured)
If you check the intake tube after the air filter it may be possible to fine dust in the pipe.
For real enlightenment go to (BOB IS THE OIL GUY) click forums and scroll down to air filters.
Also check out the Turbo Diesel Register which is for Dodge Cummins pickups ONLY!!

Anythig you need to know will be found there.

Don't want this to become another K&N filter war, but I put one in and saw a little better mpg.

The service manager at the dealer told me he has seen some turbos that looked sand blasted from oiled filters and they would not be covered by warranty.

I will check my intake when I re-oil mine to look for any signs of bypass, and switch back to stock filter if I find any.

I'm running stock Fleetguard paper in mine. The stocker has the best filtration. I think all the 3rd Gens have the same design as the one on my 6.7 (not certain though). The stock design is quite good.

If I go with a S&B I will get the dry, disposable filter. I had an AFE stock drop in for a while but it was letting dust by. That ended real quick and I went back to stock paper. I have read a lot of critical reviews about K&Ns on turbo diesels. For me it is stock or S&B.

I second Bob Is the Oil Guy as another great resource. It opened my eyes to all sorts of things I had never thought of before.

I have a 04.5 600 series cummins 5.9 ( 325hp- 605tq) with k&n filter and tornado and I get 21mpg at 70mph empty with a 4x4 automatic. At least I did till yesterday when I broke a rod. I am in trouble, I don't have the $ to pay someone to fix it. Awesome truck though!
