Last night I detached the 17A loader from the TC40D and earlier tonight reatached for practice. I used Jim's detailed instructions and everything worked pretty well accept I had a very difficult time getting the pin in the right side into the attaching frame. I tried every combination I could think of to take pressure off so the pin would slide in with no luck. The pin on the left side went in with no problem. The loader appeared to level although it might not have been perfect. The attaching/detaching procedure is very similar to the one used on John Deere 5000 series utility tractors. I had a 5300 and would say it is essentially identical. Don't get me wrong, I still like my TC very much but this is one area that the John Deere is designed better. I had a 4300, 4600 and a 4400 prior to the TC40D and their attaching/detaching procedure is easy and quick. Everything takes place from the seat of the tractor although there is a safety latch that you are supposed to install (takes about 15 seconds) that requires you to get off the tractor. Once the hydraulic hoses are connected it takes less than a minutes to attach. The parking stand is incorporated into the loader frame. I am sure I will get better with the NewHolland with a few more practice attempts. Again, I still like the NewHolland but I think it is appropriate to point out where each manufacturer shines. NewHolland has SuperSteer, Powershift hydro, better visibility, more user friendly three point hitch, better visibility to the front of the tractor and better controls. You can operate the mid pto separately from the rear pto on the Newholland. You can't on the Deere. John Deere has a better loader and belly mower attaching system. John Deere has a little nicer cruise control on the new 4000 Ten series. These are my opinions but they are based upon over 600 hours on the John Deere. To me the scorecard gives the edge to NewHolland but earlier tonight when I was struggling with the loader I must admit Deere's easy attaching loader brought back fond memories.

Deere does have an easier loader attachment proceedure then NH. Do have a funny memory though of a dealer demonstrating how easy it is to remove (or trying to) and ended up with the rear of the loader arms stuck down behind the front wheels and in front of the mounts. The hoses were getting pinched. Sales rep was a little embarrased to say the least. Ended up leaving it like that until the servie guys could come out to fix it (long after I left). /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Had this happen to me once. Don't remember what manuever made it line up better but do know that the next time I applied a thin coat of grease and everything worked like a demo by the dealer (but not like the JD demo /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif)!

I have recently removed my 7308 loader from my new TC30. I found the loader to be easy to remove but a little tricky to reattach. In the case of the 7308 (class II) loader having something in front of the loader to push on really helps get it onto the front brackets. I agree that JD loaders are much easier to attach and remove, but, I also think that once you do get your NH loader on, it is much more securely attached to your machine at all points than the JD.
