After too many hours of over thinking I finally bought a new X758 today. Singed the papers and paid for it but won't get it until the 19th. Here is what I got and what I paid. Of course I believe it's not the deal you got but the deal you think you got so right now I'm happy.

X758 $10,200
60" HC deck $1700
54" quick hitch snow blower $3041

Total $14,941

Doesn't seem right a snow blower is 1/3 the price of the tractor but what are you going to do.

I have a X595, which is sorta the daddy of your 758. It's my favorite piece of equipment. Bought 2002; after 12 yrs of mowing (54" deck) and plowing Wisc snow (50something" blade), I have never regretted a single dollar spent on it. Except maybe the service costs. Last year -- after knee replacement surgery, I had the dealer do a full service. Included all fluids, filters, lube, sharpening, etc. No repairs. It cost me almost $600. And then a month later the battery went nuclear - it fried my instrument panel. $140 to diagnose and replace. Service guys said, yeah, that is a problem with JD batteries -- they sometimes go down with a jolt of voltage thru the electrical system. Now I have no hour gauge and the indicator lights for when the pto's are engaged stay on always. Lesson learned: replace your battery after 2, 3, maybe 4 yrs max, regardless of usage hours.
Lots of folks on this website have recommended buying one of Deere's CUT's w/MMM to interested folks instead of yours or mine. They have some valid points, but for big mowing jobs and the like, JD's top end garden tractors are the ticket
I've looked at the 758 at the dealership -- very impressive. Maybe someday add it to my stable, but never replace my 595.

Nice write up Red and a some good info. I appreciate the tips and the benefit of your experience. I agree with the matter of choice. No issues with the recommendations in the proper context but after spending this kind of money and looking for reassurance to have somebody say anything other than congrats unless its in a joking manner is out of line IMHO. I don't think anyone buys this kind of tractor without considering all the options. Why cause 2nd guessing after the fact.

Congratulations on the new yard toy. I think you will really enjoy it!! I've put just over 40 hours on my X739 and so far have not really found anything of consequence I don't like.

About the only thing I don't like about my X739 is how much mud those dang all terrain tires can drag into the garage!

Was mowing damp grass and leaves yesterday and was amazed at how well the 54HC deck and powerflow bagger could cut and bag that stuff without any drop in RPMs or clogging the deck or chute.

61554,

I predict you will soon move from looking for reassurance to being aggravated with yourself for agonizing over getting it - because you will love it so much you will wonder how you lived without it!

This has happened to many of us, I know it did to me. When you grow up without these things, then come to realize how much your quality of life improves with them, your only regret is not pulling the trigger sooner.

TBN told me how useful a front loader would be - I could barely believe it until I got it. They were right, of course. I know you don't need a loader - just using as an example.

Now, git out there & enjoy it!
