I don't see how it can have enough force when it's weighted so good.

Looks like firewood really..really dry for such splitter.

Notice it is all straight grain soft wood. It has a purpose. If that head weighs 50-100# it can pack a good wallop. I would have a solid piece of large trunk wood as a base instead of the table this guy has, too much bounce. A smaller version to make small kindling would be more valuable for me. Most of what he is splitting I only split once. Those small pieces burn too fast.

So true, he would be constantly feeding his fire like a boiler on a locomotive with those small pieces. Maybe he just uses those for kindling. I would like to see him try splitting a big ole piece of red oak with that rig.

Hmmm, I may try something like that.......except it'll be for forging metal purposes.
What is that guy doing? Making shingles?

If I had one, I'd probably chop my thumb off.

It takes allot of force or ton's of pressure to split wood, This tool doesn't look like it has either, Of-course if the wedge end weigh 75-100 lbs and free-fall dropped from about 4 ft. it could very well split wood, but looking at it with almost no effort to pull it down I'm not convinced, It looks to be rigged with a torsion rod & spring, but this does nothing more than to help with balancing and easy lifting, I just cannot see any way possible without pressure or force applied that this can actually work,

There is a tool made for slicing through several inches of paper and is made on the same principle as this so called "wood splitter, only it has a recoil spring and much sharper blade,

I like how fast he splits but I enjoy having all of my fingers ....

Let's see him post back in a few months and count his fingers. That contraption is more dangerous than the wheel of death splitter.
