( How much did it really cost you to go get those light bulbs besides the actual cost of the bulbs and the sales tax? Be sure to include gas, insurance, and auto depreciation. Next we need to determine how much your time is worth. Give yourself a decent wage. Don't forget to include social security taxes, health insurance, unemployment taxes, etc. It took your time to go to the store and fix the lights so total up the time for both tasks. Did you need any additional parts to make the fix? Be sure to include that cost in the calculation including the cost to stock the parts. Also include a cost for the building that you used to keep you warm and dry while you repaired the lights. Don't forget to include property taxes, building insurance, and building depreciation in the calculation. How much electricity was used to repair the lights? That goes in the mix as well. )

Gee, then wouldn't this also have to be included into the price of running after and installing the dealers parts /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think that you are missing the point, next time he will not have to buy a $28 bulb, it might only cost $5. As far as the time to get the stuff, he would still have to go to the dealer to get the bulb, so that is a wash, you only have the extra time to install the kit. $16 saved today plus a savings of $23 each time a bulb has to be replaced, lets say once every other year for twenty years, total savings $246, satisfaction in a job well done and tractor tinkering time, priceless. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The way I look at it is I saved $32 dollars because I replaced both lights, the other one was in bad shape also, the Dealer is in the opposite direction so I saved $10 gas, I stopped on the way home from work and picked up the lights only a block out of my way, I saved on sales tax because the lights were cheaper. And best of all I love to build things( PRICELESS)! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice project - I planned to drill the ROPS on my Kubota L3130, to install an extruded steel mesh behind the operator's seat, when I happened to look at the Warranty and it said something to the effect that if a hole is drilled in the ROPS, etc. it voids the Warranty. I ended clamping a make shift screen on the ROPS, but will be drilling/bolting as soon as the Warranty expires.
