To ask what the suggested list price of DK45SE HST, DK45S Cab and CK35HST was. They replied back there is no MSRP dealers set the prices.

Seems kind of odd to not have a published MSRP for a large ticket item.

Unusual. yes, but nothing wrong with it saying that. The manufacturers sell it for the price they want. The retailer then can sell it at a price that they want to make a profit. The buyer can shop around for the best deal overall.

I find that normally the list price is used to advertice big discounts when in fact that price it is being sold for is the price that it would have been sold for with out the list price figure.

Not to undermine the wisdome of wendell (NC), there is an MSRP, it is the figure they use to calculate dealer cost from. Other than that it is meaningless. Since most dealers (competitors) advertise discounted prices, publishing MSRP would make KIOTI appear high. The dealers discount the price as they need to in their markets. I think we should advertise price per LB, like at the grocery store so consumers can make an informed decision :).

Seems like for Kioti's and Kioti dealers sake they should have an MSRP. I read once that over 60% of people pay sticker price for a car. Plus, the psychological sales pitch... "MSRP on this tractor is $15,728, without the front brush guard! But, because you're the the best person I've met this month, I'll sell it to you for $13,960. I'm offering you the deal of the century here AND I'll finance it for you for 0% for 24 mos.!!". Seems absurd, but don't underestimate the ignorance of John Q. Buyer. The reason these sales tactics are used so frequently in other big-ticket item sales is because they work. Everybody likes to leave the dealer thinking they got a great buy and most don't take the time to reasearch and actually learn what a great buy is... all it takes is a dealer telling them "This is the least I've ever sold one of these for" and they're happy and running around telling all their friends they wheeled & dealed and wrangled a $20k tractor away from that ignorant dealer for only $6,000! "He didn't make a penny off me!"

P.T. Barnum hit the nail on the head... "There's a sucker born every minute"

The problem is that many buyers will look at MSRP and see that Kioti is no cheaper than the market leaders. Then they immediately discount it: Why would I buy a lesser known brand over tried and true for the same price? While this not a smart way to go about choosing, many will do exactly this.

Kioti could do well though if they offered some fixed price package specials that all dealers can still make money on. I'm no dealer, but I suspect it's a balancing act because dealers have to make so much to cover expenses and stay in business. Big dealers can make less per tractor, whereas smaller dealers might need to make more. I suspect that sometimes the fixed price deals really cut into the must-make numbers for the small guys, and that's a tough pill to swallow. However, this is a method to gain market penetration. It seemed to sell the 1914's when they were looking to move them, and TYM has sold a bunch of T273's this way. I prefer this approach over the "free loader" promotion now being offered on the CK35.

There's nothing wrong with buying products that have no manufacturer's suggested retail price, but you sure better check around and know what you're doing. The same situation exits with RVs; some manufacturers include a MSRP sticker from the factory (some even have those prices listed on the Internet), but other manufacturers do not. In that case, some dealers make up their own stickers that "appear" to be the MSRP from the manufacturer (a little less than honest?), while other dealers simply quote whatever price they want to quote. I've posted before about meeting some folks who had a nearly new motorhome, for which they paid $120,000, and then they learned that they could have simply gone to another dealer and bought it for $80,000. That kind of disparity can cause some hard feelings. A short time before that, I had visited the factory where that motorhome was made and I had asked about an MSRP and, at the factory, they would tell me nothing at all about prices; only to contact a dealer.

We like the price / lb idea a lot. It would really show one of the major differences KIOTI has to offer.

I am fixing my barn doors away from buying my first tractor(not including the non-op Oliver Row Crop 60 that came with the barn) and a Kioti DK45 really looks like the one for me.
Even though I have not paid list price for anything in a very long time it still feels strange not to have that MSRP point of reference when getting ready to spend the long green.

List prices in the real world are nothing but smoke and mirrors. Don't believe me,just check out the autoparts business. Some stores inflate list price, just to stroke your ego and make you think you as a walk-in retail customer, are getting a big % discount in line with what a garage would pay. To some seeing that 50% discount equates to being "prefered customer",where in the real world it's the % above "jobber" that makes the difference.
