Tractor
Yanmar 186D Turf + FEL / Bolens G174
Hey All! I am new here... But I have been reading threads from this forum for several years...

I'm in Clackamas Oregon, 4th or 5th generation.
I love working on things... ANYTHING Mechanical, or computerized... lol quite the difference I know, But I started rebuilding computers when I was 6-7 years old
after I discovered they were like Legos... Then later on I discovered automobiles were like Legos too! :D And now more recently, 2009 or 2010, I was able to get my hands on a
1963 Case 530CK Construction King which I had to sell this last winter for monetary reasons...

But that tractor, working with it and on it, got me hooked!

So recently I bought a Yanmar YM186D 4x4 18HP Power Shift with Yanmar Front end loader and Turf tires... I got it as a project because the front was bucking and binding while driving...
The 4x4 pinion gears were stripped because of bad seals that had been let drain out the front axle's 90wt... Fixed it and love it! (lots more to do on it)

Just picked up and Bolens G174 / Iseki 1500F 17HP 2cyl 4x4 with Ag tires. been sitting at least 10-15 years with bad fluids (water contaminated) stuck shifter and rust welded together clutch etc...

I got it running and driving less than 3 hours work after getting it home... :D clutch still stuck, but just start it in gear, OR shift it at very very very low rpm to avoid grinding.

I am currently using the Yanmar and restoring the Bolens...

I would like to find a front end loader for the Bolens, and a tiller for either tractor, and a brush hog! :D

Oh an any help unsticking the clutch! preferably without splitting the tractor...

Make sure it is the clutch stuck and not the linkage stuck. Drive it in as high a gear as possible when trying to break the clutch loose.

Thanks Bruce! But I'm just driving along in High gear, then what do I do? I have pushed in and let out the clutch pedal hundreds of times while cruising along in different gears... I have also jammed on the brakes a lot while going fast. but nothing has happened/changed... I have never unstuck a clutch before... what should I be doing?

Keep the clutch pedal in, otherwise there is no effort being made to release it. Hills or pulling heavy loads will help. You want as much strain on it as possible.

Mostly underload with the clutch depressed all the time... steep up and down with a little goosing of the throttle without getting crazy...

It's always worked for me so far...

Welcome to TBN!

I had a ford 5000 stick once, pulled up to a tree held clutch-n gave it some gas. And it started working, they were rusted together i guess. Welcome

Hook it up to a good load or since it's such a small tractor I would hook it to a tree or something unmovable with a heavy tow STRAP (don't use chain) then take off with a foot or two of slack in the strap and the clutch pedal all the way in and hope it jars it enough to break loose. Our little international was stuck last spring so after it was running I idled it right to the bottom and put it in the low range then one sharp jab from the boot into first gear and it jumped ahead about five or six feet and problem solved.
