It's got to have true Jeep fans horrified. With a huge, full sized 4 door cab and tiny bed, it looks more like an Escalade than a pickup. At least it doesn't appear to say "Willys" on it... although it probably does have about the same bed space as the original.

I just configured one, with the 6 speed manual transmission and towing package the Retail price is about 38K. Build & Price a 22 Jeep(R) Gladiator today! | Jeep(R)

A coworker who is a Jeep fanatic just traded for a Tacoma though, as they apparently are having problems with both the engine and the manual transmission. He traded his previous Jeep due to engine troubles, and his last due to transmission gremlins.

No more jeep's for me, I got sick of replacing water pumps and about everything else on the thing, they are kinda neat but I never had any luck with reliability on a Jeep..

As far as I'm concerned, the "J" in jeep doesn't stand for jeep!

Waaaay too unreliable!

I'm not into the pickup from the pictures they've shown, but I guess they went with that configuration to take parts from the 4-dr Wrangler and save money.

When they stopped making Jeeps with the 4.0L straight-six, I stopped buying them. Solid motor and I could fix most things pretty easily.

Not to jump on the Jeep in general, my brother all but gave his away. Said it was barn soured to the repair shop. Electrical issues up the wazoo.

I had a Jeep TJ. Last year( 2006 ) they put the 4.0 liter straight six in the unit. I didn't have any real troubles with it. But I traded it in on the new Ram Power Wagon. I need something that will carry a little more than a few potted house plants and a loaf of bread. I gave my F-150 to my son. My goal - reduce the size of my overall "fleet" of vehicles.

I had a 2006 TJ Rubicon with the manual transmission; it was a good truck but I had to downsize the fleet due to divorce :/

I bought a used 2004 WJ Grand Cherokee with the I-6 and the standard 4wd unit (the last year they did that, after it was AWD). I loved that SUV, it was the perfect size for hauling around stuff, but still fit into all the smaller car spaces in the city. Sadly the tin worm got it 2 years ago; if I had the time and had found a better body I would have transplanted the drive train as it was perfect (other than replacing the rusted out oil pan...).

That was a good read. It would be interesting if they could test those exact trucks again, with 75K miles on them to see which held up best.

The dealership where I bought the Taco Wagon is also the Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep dealership. They had pictures of the new Jeep pickup.

I was not overly impressed. If I were ever to go that way again - Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4 door. Same engine/same frame.

I've owned a Jeep since my AMC CJ in 1974. Only problem - heater was a tad weak, soft top a tad breezy for the Alaska winters.
