Due to a manpower shortage I had to pitch in and weld today. I haven't had to weld on regular basis for 3 years. Here are some pics of one of my better welds. I can really tell a difference in my eyesight also.

I can't see the other end so don't know if it could have been roll welded but looks pretty good for not having done it in awhile. A little touch up with a file on the edges and it will look really good. Does it need to pass x-ray?

Welds are hard to take pictures of. The light changes it with slightest movement. Yes it was rolled. We try to fit everything to make it easy on the weldor, even fitting it in 2 pieces. That way you have a minimum of position welds. I have always preached about not using a file. Some inspectors will shoot that down for mechanical undercut. Plus it's something that doesn't add value to the finished product. I do however stress the arc marks need to be filed or ground off. And yes every weld should be done to pass X-ray. Haha.
