First let me say that my that my knowledge of hydraulics is limited to how to use a lever. We have a log splitter that sees a lot of use and it's caused me to wonder about a couple of thing.
1. How does the auto return stop? I saw a post here where a member built a bracket to limit the return stroke and I would like to do something similar.
2. Right now we have a horizontal shaft engine that the pump bolts to. We've had a lot of engine troubles this year and may have to replace it. If we put a vertical shaft engine on there would we have to change the pump? I already have 2 vertical shaft engines and it would be much cheaper to fab a mounting bracket for 1 of those than to buy a new engine.
I don't know what kind of pump is on there but I can take pictures after work if needed.
Thank you
