I have a leak in my hydro hose by the fitting - can I replace the end?

I have made a ton of hoses up for my former job;very easy but the machine is extremely expensive.Again I would check with a local shop or mail order from Surplus Center.

You do not have your location filled in, but around here the auto parts stores can make and repair hydraulic hoses.

NAPA has replaced the fitting on a shortened hose for me.

If its leaking, recommend you just replace the entire hydraulic hose. Use your local hydraulics shop and they can often custom build you a hose while you wait. Bring your old hose for them to copy.

Or just order a premade hydraulic hose online from Amazon; or even better contact any reputable online hydraulic supplier. You will need the exact length of the hose in inches and the diameter (3/8" or 1/2"). Typical I will always add 4" to the measured length to insure a little slack when doing the install of the new hose. Don't forget to request a hose sleeve and some plastic ties to snug your hose down to the loader.

I think you are mistaken. If it's the hose press I saw, that press it just to press the fitting into the new hose. It does not crimp. The crimp tool for hydraulic lines in typically in the range of $2,500 plus each die size. As I recall the last time I looked at getting into the work, the dies were about $275 EACH.

As I mentioned earlier, the fittings are very hard to install in new hose much less in old stiff hose. That's what the "hose press" is for.

That’s not much markup in building hoses anyway. Most of the money is in the hose and ends. It would be foolish to even consider to make a few hoses.
