Well, there is another possibility....
Do you have any rashes or bullseye patterns anywhere on your body?
About a month ago, I woke up on a Friday morning feeling tired and warm. Just figured that I was really tired from working a bunch of overtime. That night, me and the wife were supposed to go somewhere and I got home from work, started to change and felt even worse. Well, I mentioned that to the wife. She felt my head ( gool ol' Dr Mom /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) and said, ' you ain't going anywhere!! You have a fever!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Take some Advil and went to bed. The next day, I was just hanging around feeling miserable and I happened to notice some redness on the back of my left knee. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif What's this??? Showed it to the wife and we just thought that it was the way I sitting.
The next day the redness had spread. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Hmmmm.... better watch this.
Monday rolled around - redness had spread somemore. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Not good. The fever had somewhat subsided and I went to work. In the meantime, the wife called our Doctor's office to set up an appointment. Couldn't get in until Wednesday morning. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Oh well, the Doctor is on vacation, but his Nurse Practioner was seeing patients. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif That will do.
Went into the Dr's office and was seen by the NP and an Intern. Now that turned out to be a bit of fun.... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I showed them the back of my knee and to hear these two people was just fun. A lot of hmmmm's and uh-huh's after asking pointed questions. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
What they determined was that it was an insect bite and really suspected Lyme's disease. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Ack!!! No way!!! Not me!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif So, they gave me Amoxycilin (500mg) to take three times a day for three weeks plus a trip to the lab to get bloodwork. Also, checked for other possibilities. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
A few days later the bloodwork turned up negative. So, they said to keep on with the antibiotics and have more bloodwork done in three weeks. It takes around three weeks for the antibodies to show up. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
So, three weeks later.... low and behold. I got Lyme's disease!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Catching it early and taking the Antibiotics were the right thing to do. Now, I can get it again and have to go thru the same routine. You do not become imune to it.
So, do not ignore the signs and get to a Dr and ask questions. If you ignore this disease, it will cause damage later on in life. The bacteria stay in your body and can effect you joints.
Good luck.
