This fever is a bummer.
I went to the doctor yesterday and he prescribed to me Omnicef and Allerga D.How long will it be before these medicines have an effect on me ?I would like to be able to quit going to sleep freezing and not wake up 2 hours later burning up. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I was wondering if I had the West Nile virus, the doctor did not mention that and I never thought to ask.Surely he not would rule that out when making a diagnosis being we have some west nile in this area /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I have been taking an extra dosage (3 tablets) of a strong migraine medicine which helps the fever some and for a while.

Sounds like you are in need of some " GRANNY CLAMPERT" medicine.

Lets hope you get better soon.

Fever is a sign of infection. To treat infection you needs lots of rest, antibiotics in most cases, and plenty of clear iquids to flush your system. Water, weak tea, hot or cold, gatorade, sprite or 7-up, stay away from dairy. Hope this helps.

Well, there is another possibility....

Do you have any rashes or bullseye patterns anywhere on your body?

About a month ago, I woke up on a Friday morning feeling tired and warm. Just figured that I was really tired from working a bunch of overtime. That night, me and the wife were supposed to go somewhere and I got home from work, started to change and felt even worse. Well, I mentioned that to the wife. She felt my head ( gool ol' Dr Mom /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) and said, ' you ain't going anywhere!! You have a fever!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Take some Advil and went to bed. The next day, I was just hanging around feeling miserable and I happened to notice some redness on the back of my left knee. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif What's this??? Showed it to the wife and we just thought that it was the way I sitting.

The next day the redness had spread. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Hmmmm.... better watch this.

Monday rolled around - redness had spread somemore. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Not good. The fever had somewhat subsided and I went to work. In the meantime, the wife called our Doctor's office to set up an appointment. Couldn't get in until Wednesday morning. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Oh well, the Doctor is on vacation, but his Nurse Practioner was seeing patients. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif That will do.

Went into the Dr's office and was seen by the NP and an Intern. Now that turned out to be a bit of fun.... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I showed them the back of my knee and to hear these two people was just fun. A lot of hmmmm's and uh-huh's after asking pointed questions. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

What they determined was that it was an insect bite and really suspected Lyme's disease. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Ack!!! No way!!! Not me!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif So, they gave me Amoxycilin (500mg) to take three times a day for three weeks plus a trip to the lab to get bloodwork. Also, checked for other possibilities. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

A few days later the bloodwork turned up negative. So, they said to keep on with the antibiotics and have more bloodwork done in three weeks. It takes around three weeks for the antibodies to show up. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

So, three weeks later.... low and behold. I got Lyme's disease!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Catching it early and taking the Antibiotics were the right thing to do. Now, I can get it again and have to go thru the same routine. You do not become imune to it.

So, do not ignore the signs and get to a Dr and ask questions. If you ignore this disease, it will cause damage later on in life. The bacteria stay in your body and can effect you joints.

Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words everyone,I fell back to sleep about 04:00 .a.m and slept good for about 5 hours,I woke up and I could stand the smell of food and felt rested from my siesta and the coffee tastes great this morning although I am still some what fevered and slightly chilled.
I have not noticed any red spots, but yes lyme disease is a real concern.

Egon,
I do not drink but my pap always had the juice on hand. When I was a small boy about the 2nd grade in school I was sick/fevered and in bed,I remember my dear father bringing to my bed a cup of orange juice and said take this and drink it,let me tell you that sure did not taste very much like orange juice /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif maybe 1/2 oj at the most. The other 1/2 or more was one of 3 things he kept in his hard liquor arsenal
/Schenley Reserve/Siegrams 7/or moonshine that a neighbor down the road supplied the locals with.

Mom used to give us a juice glass of blackberry wine to make us sweat it out. It sure did that! Then one day she noticed the level in her jug seemed low, so she marked it. Ah hah it was going down at a prodigious rate, and I got the third degree. "But Mom, I hate that stuff," was my only defense, and I'll tell you it was insufficient. Later she caught my 5 year old brother in the act. Poor guy had a drinking problem until his 3rd wife took over. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I'd rely on the Doctor's prescription if'n I was you. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I am doing what the doctor says, this is the 6 th day I have had this crap (off and on now)Sunday evening I wobbled outside and done a little work on my tractor and came back to the house and felt pretty good,Im thinking maybe its about over and I shower up and go upstairs lay on the bed and turn on the TV,go to sleep and about 1:00 a.m. I wake up again and hotter than a fire cracker and my mouth drier than Death Valley.I drink a couple of bottles of cold Dasani drinking water made by coca cola company. I take 4 extra strength equate extra strength pain relievers and the fever starts to subside, starting to feel like a human being again but the way its been when these pain relievers wear off the fever will be back. Now my 19 year old son is getting a taste of it.

Back to the blackberry wine I imagine that would taste good.
I would like to try some if I could get it without the alcohol content.

May need to get a throat culture done. Maybe it's strep throat. My neighbor just had it and the symptoms sound the same.
