I just hate phone calls like this...

At about 7:36 tonight I get a call. It is my niece. She was crying on the phone. Her little Shih Tzu (Sammey) had gotten out. She said they were next door. She said the dog came out looking for them. Well, when he did he got ran over. He was killed. I don't want to sound callous, but I think this was the best way he could of gone. She said he was killed instantly. When they first purchased the dog, they didn't know it at the time, but he had some serious health issues. His back would give out periodically. He would drag his rear around. He was also, blind and partly deaf. He also suffered from seizures. The vet said that he wouldn't live that long anway. So, given those problems, I do feel that it was better that he go instantly instead of possibly suffering more down the road.

Amidst the crying on the phone, there was some good news. She said she sold her Sunfire to the first person that looked at it.

there were 9 kitttens and about a month ago i came out and one of the long hairs...big reds brother ...and my better half named him dandelion!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifhe was jist as cute as a button!!anywany i went outside and dandelion apeared to b sleepin so i picked him up to rub his back..i spend a lot of time with each of theses guys...and he jist seemed limp...his eyes were glazedand his lbreathing was very labored i felt him all over to see if he might have crackd his neeck or somethin..and then i felt this lump in his abdomen bout the seze of a nickel round..called the better half at work and asked if they had gotten into anything or if she had fed him something out of the norm...nnope so said i'd probably have to put him down.....got the 22 and headed cross the street and my poor liddle buddy was startin to purr..have tears in my eyes jist thinkin bout it right now...(i may bea bad a8, lineman but am a real softy inside /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)i gave him arub on my face and laid him down and started to dig!!!too many roots for the garden fork so ran back across the street to git a spade and (100') and came back and dug a small hole then picked up my iddl buddy dandy for short-+he had already gone in bout 3 min's since i'd jist held him...i guess some things r meant 2 b so here's yer nieces pic and

Sorry to hear about the poor dog. You are right about the dog going out so quickly. Better to be that way than to suffer from ailments. I don't believe in letting an aminal suffer when it doesn't have too.

I had to have our 14 yr old Besengi/Collie mix put down a couple of years ago due to cancer. I held her as the Vet did what he had to. She looked right in my eyes as she left... that was probably one of the toughest things I've ever done... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That picture was really nice! Seeing that pic made me smile and laugh a little. They look real cozy in that box. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif If she saw those kittens, she'd want all of them. She already has a Newfoundland puppy (Lucy, about 90 pounds now /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif ) and a Shelte (sp?) (Zeus). If she ever came home with that many kittens her husband would freak out! lol They also have two cats already. One is the halloween type black cat with orange eyes and a stray that showed up. The stray got out. It got pregnant but miscarried. They have since gotten it fixed.

Jim, I don't like to see a dog suffer, either (or any animal for that matter). The Shih Tzu, though was spunky. He would always play with the Newfoundland. At night, they would sleep with each other. I heard today that the Newfy didn't sleep well last night being the Shih Tzu was gone.

shade2u2, that pic of your dog is real nice. She looks majestic in that pic. It is always really hard when a beloved companion passes on.
