Tractor
New Holland TC35D w/ 16LA FEL
I decided to be very brave today and attempt for the Very First time. The removal of my 16LA loader. I have followed the manuals instruction to the letter and So Far, everything has gone flawlesly and exactly as described. But, when I went to remove the hydraulic quick couplers, I instantly noticed this little /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif situation. My two sets of lines appear to be hooked up backwards, or atleast the colored safety caps are backwards. My lower Yellow and Green hoses / caps are crossed and my upper Red and Blue hoses / caps are crossed.
See attached photo.
I have owned the tractor for 17 months and never noticed this. To the best of my knowledge my loader works perfectly. My raise and lower and my curl and dump work as they are supposed to. So whats up with this little find ??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Mark, on my tractor, the caps (tractor side) go red, blue, green, yellow from top to bottom. I think your tractor is the same way. I suspect your loader just had the colors reversed by mistake and they discovered it at your dealer but forgot to swap the caps on the loader side so they would be right. If your loader arms raise when you pull back on the joystick and the bucket dumps when you push the joystick to the right, I'd just swap out the dust covers while you have the loader off.

Also, in your picture, the loader post to the right has two holes. The bigger one (lower one) has a grease zerk fitting in there. While the loader is off is the only time you can grease that fitting.

Good luck with reinstalling your loader. Remember if it is in the sun, you may have a pressure lock and need to relieve the pressure on your quick-connects when you go to reconnect. Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi Jim,
Thank you for your quick reply. I was actually outside, having finished removing the loader and was giving the tractor a bath.
My colored coded caps on the tractor run exactly as you described. R/B/G/Y The loader side runs B/R/Y/G and Yes, my loader works as it is supposed to back is up and right is dump and right into the speed dump.
So I feel you are correct in that I just need to swap caps.
I will add a few more pictures to this thread of the tractor and loader seperated. It sure does make the tractor look differant.

Well for some reason the several pictures I took of the tractor and loader seperated, Did not talke in the camera.
The loader has already been reinstalled so I can't even retake the pictures. Next time.
Anyway.
I did swap the colored caps, greas the zirks as Jim suggested and the loader reinstalled picture perfect. Now I feel much better knowing how it goes on and off and that I can do it. I feel much more intuned with my tractor now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Before I bought my New Holland I had a used JD that didn't have the coded caps when I first bought it. The first time I took off the loader I tried to number the hoses with masking tape and pen. Unfortunately it rained before I re-attached the loader, the numbered tape fell off and it was kind of a guessing game until I got it right. After a couple of times of this situation, I finally got around to getting the new caps. You would definately know if the lines were crossed. Also, I take the loader and backhoe off my TC-40 D frequently depending on where and what job I may be doing. The first couple of times take a little while but after that it's a snap. I frequently do two or three different small jobs on a Saturday, I take all the implements I need for the day and switch around the tractor right on site. These are great little tractors for what they are intended to do.

I also just removed my loader for the first time last week Mark and man was it easy. The thing that got me is when I got back into the drivers seat without the loader being attached. Looking out over the front of the tractor looked like it was missing its best friend /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
