Tractor
Kubota Grand L 5740, loaded R1's w/640 lbs cast weight, 854 loader
I was pulling a chisel yesterday, pulling pretty hard and the tractor stopped dead in it's tracks.
It had jumped out of low. I put it back into gear and continued on with no further problems
I've already notified the dealer and he said to bring it in.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen.
The tractor is a L3240 HST+

Maybe just an adjustment to the range lever?

That was the first suggestion of the dealer. I hope that's all it is.

I have an L-2800 and it jumps out of low gear when going down a steep hill (loaded or Unloaded) I have to place my left hand on the shift lever and hold in gear. Mine is standard transmission with clutch. It has done this since new so as long as I am aware of it I am OK. Had to clean my britches first time it happened. Dealer said nothing could be done to stop it since there is no adjustment. Seems like a good way for Kubota to have leagel action filed against them when someone gets hurt or killed. I also notified Kubota of safety problem but never got a response.

Did you contact a different dealer and ask them about it. A tractor should not jump out of gear unless there is a problem. If it does then the dealer needs to find the problem and repair it.

I would seriously contact a different dealer and talk to them about the problem as what you described is a dangerous problem. Just think about it if someone else uses your tractor and forget about this problem, things can turn into a terrible problem in a hurry and hopefully no one gets injured or killed.

Leon,

Your dealer is intellectually challanged and is probably suffering from severe rectal cranial inversion.

There are adjustments (sort of), the shift plates / forks or detents are out ot whack. They probably need to take apart the tractor to get to it.

Go back to the dealer and re-state your case. If they still do nothing, write a nice letter to the head of quality for Kubota in Japan.

I agree. What if your in 4WD going down a steep hill and it pops out. Now you have rear brakes only to stop. Big pucker factor. Going up hill may be even worse.

I would push to get it fixed. Particularly if all you have as a backup is two wheel brakes. Tractors can be deadly scary when you lose control.

By bx24's brakes wouldn't work when first delivered. Scared the crap out of me on my hilly part when went to use on a descent and they weren't there fortunately a small sapling stopped me before hitting the water or having to jump before flipping/roll over. Dealer fixed but took two times to fix subsequent hydro fluid leak that developed due to poor workmanship on first attempt.
