I have new GT 2550. The mower deck will now lower to the lowest setting. checked the casters and the are all in the highest setting, still will now lower to "1". Casters just to make sure, mower still will not drop to "1".

Replace caster in top holes.

What else could I be missing?

Thanks

I normally mow at 3" as a minimum and 4" tall when dry. It helps to make astrong lawn as it allows the grass to reseed.. I've never thought to try and put a mower down that low.

My lawn is plenty thick and strong mowing in the lowest setting with my 1050, no problems there. Just can't get the 2550 to that level.

El, I would not even worry about it and let the dealer take care of it. Don't accept anything like "that's the way it comes from the factory" or any other cop-out from him either. This is the sort of thing that's supposed to be caught and fixed during dealer prep. I mean, be nice and all, just don't back down :)

I agree CC, and I know my dealer would take care of it for me, but with my work schedule I don't have time to load it up on my trailer and haul it the 15 miles to them and then pick it up. Being reasonably competent with a wrench, I thought there might be an easier fix.

Check the back of the tractor for a 'stop' adjustment.

On my 1864, it's an L-Shaped rod that sticks out right above the hitch.

No matter what you change on the deck, it will not lower any further than that stop is set to.
