So...I need some help here...
Tho I have a lot of experience with drawing programs like "Microstation" or "Autocad" and can do more tricks with "Sketchup" than a monkey on a mile long vine, I cannot draw freehand to save my azz...
...and I need a logo for the ranch...."The Old Goat Ranch" needs....an Old Goat, of course....
So...I invite all you cartoonists to submit your rendition of the "Old Goat" himself...to the Old Goat, himself...
I am looking for a black and white line drawing of an old cartoon-ish billy-goat in wire rim glasses suitable for reproduction on biz cards ect, perhaps to be sandblasted into a sign for the front gate, or who knows what other mischief...?
A "headshot" rather than a full body sketch would allow for more detail in what would be a very small repro, when done on a biz card or stationary...but hit me with your best shot...
My favorite cartoonists / animation styles belong to the Masters....folks like Tex Avery, Friz Freleng, Robert Crumb, Chuck Jones, early "Famous Studios" productions drawn by Dan Gordon , Dan Gordons work for the Fleischer Brothers, the older Disney Studios shorts, older Walter Lantz works...older Hanna/Barbera cartoons and even work by more recent, and not-dead artists, like John Krickfalusi and Joe Sheilds...
Seek your inspiration where you will...but please don't plagiarize...ripping other folks work off the web for other than "Fair Use" denies some starving artist a hot ham sandwich...theft is theft...
I need something original that will become a permanent part of the Ranch...for commercial purposes...and once I pay for it, it will be "mine" more or less...
Right now I can't afford to pay much....a cheap cigar and a jug of sweet Texas Red to start...
...if your work really captures what I am looking for, perhaps a larger commission piece is in our future... here's a shot of The Old Goat and his Doe, as well as a Joe Shields cartoon off the net that an acquaintance thought had a great resemblance...
Maybe we will need a caprine caricature of "American Gothic"...?
Anyway...I am counting on the combined power of TBNet to come thru for me here....
Be Safe Out There...
Terry
