Hi I hope I am posting this in the right spot, I am new to this site and will bring my experiences to any of you in any way I can I have owned many machines and trucks and been through it all
I want to know if anybody can answer it I just bought a ford 1710 diesel 4x4 w/770b loader,740 hours I believe the machine is a 1986 I bought it from a new holland dealer mint condition they did a complete service on it all filters and oils, they also put new lights and a new loader remote as the other one was wiped out and could barely move the bucket.
After bringing it home and trying to dig out all this snow I find the loader is extremly slow ( my 89-91 ford 1520 was three times faster ) the service mechanic says this era ford loader is very slow , if true can I put a mid 90's or newer faster hydraulic pump on it to speed up the bucket from what I can tell looking at a newer 1710 everything looks the same but it is faster
or is it possible that the pump on mine is tired and should be replaced I have a 30 day warrynty with it i just got it back from them after all the work they did any help would be great
thanks

I have a 79 1700 with a 770 FEL. It does not seem to be the fastest FEL in the world. I do keep my hydraulic speed control set on max speed so you might want to check if the 1710 still has a speed control knob (under the seat on the 1700) is set on max speed. In general those kinds of mods (change to a completely different hyd pump) can get expensive in a hurry. I use a rear blade for most of my snow removal as it is much faster than using the FEL.

If my memory still serves, I believe the knob below the seat is a flow restrictor that only affects the flow of oil out of the 3pt lift cylinder to prevent a heavy implement from lowering at a high rate of speed. It should not affect the loader operation.

the hyd on these tractors were strong but slow. You could have the dealer check the flow of the pump. One of the main things is to keep the engine RPM's up around the pto speed to get the most hyd flow. I also see this tractor has a priority valve for the power steering. This valve could be allowing more fluid to the power steering than it should. On my 1900 I mounted a separate power steering pump on the engine and this increased the speed of the hydraulics considerably

I have a 1710 with 770B FEL. Compared to my 1920 w/7108 and 2110 w/ koyker 150, the 1710 is the slowest. Have to kick rmps up to 1800 to get a good response. Big tractor, big pump. Little tractor, little pump. Load weight is the same. Also the 770B bucket is farther out in front which means leverage against it is more. Pistons are also smaller than 7108 FEL or the Koyker. Also try keeping 3 point in down position.

Just remembered. Keep the 3 point lift lever out of the top notch. It is only to be used when operating remote valves connected at the control valve under the seat. In the top notch position it really kills the hydo power and is hard on the pump. If you have draft control (two levers) keep the draft lever down.
